We look at five states of matter on the site. Gases, liquids and solids are all made up of microscopic particles, but the behaviors of these particles differ in the three phases.

Everyone is familiar with liquid water, ice and water vapour, but what are the differences between these three. It exists in three states, namely soli liquid. Matter is made of particles.

Sal shows states of matter, soliliquiand gas.

Solid matter is composed of tightly packed particles. Soli liquid and gas are the three states of matter. Find out more about the states in this Bitesize Primary KSScience guide.

Apr Anything that has mass is made up of matter – an all-encompassing word for atoms and molecules that make up our physical world. All matter is made from atoms. Tim and Moby show you how changes in temperature can really affect a molecule. Properties describe matter.
